For Startups & Companies

HR Foundation Package

Who can set up HR policies and an employee handbook for a company making its first hire in Canada or the US?

OptiMax Partners Inc. builds the complete HR foundation a company needs before its first Canadian or US hire: employment contracts, an employee handbook and a compliance checklist written to Ontario's Employment Standards Act and the applicable US state and federal rules. The package is delivered in English or Korean by an SHRM-SCP consultant, so Korean companies opening a North American office get documents their head office can read and their local employees can rely on.

What the package includes

Everything you need to make your first hire with confidence, built once and ready to reuse as you grow.

  • ✦Employment contract templates for full-time, part-time and contract roles, with enforceable termination language
  • ✦An employee handbook covering hours, leave, pay, conduct and the policies the law requires
  • ✦A compliance checklist for Ontario ESA or the relevant US state, plus federal requirements
  • ✦A walkthrough session so your leadership team knows what each document does

Who it is for

Startups and established companies making their first Canadian or US hire, and Korean companies setting up a subsidiary or branch in North America. If you already have HR documents and want them checked instead, the Employment Law Compliance Audit is the better starting point.

How it works

We start with a short intake on where you are hiring, which roles come first and how your head office expects things to run. Within the engagement we draft, review with you, and finalize the documents, then hand them over with a plain-language guide. Most clients are ready to extend their first offer at the end of the package.

Every program is designed and delivered by Natalie Yun, SHRM-SCP, Certified Birkman Consultant and Brain-Based Coaching Certified, with more than 25 years of international HR leadership, in English or Korean.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a lawyer as well?
The package is HR consulting, not legal representation. We draft to the current employment standards and flag where a lawyer's review adds value, such as executive agreements or unusual restrictive covenants.
Can the documents be in Korean and English?
Yes. Contracts and handbooks are prepared in English for legal use, and we provide a Korean version or Korean explanatory notes for your head office.
Which jurisdictions do you cover?
Ontario and other Canadian provinces, Canadian federal rules, and US federal law with state-specific provisions where you hire.
How long does it take?
It depends on how many roles and locations you need. The intake call gives you a timeline before any work starts.
What happens after the first hire?
Many clients continue with the HR Compliance Retainer for ongoing questions, or add Payroll Setup & HR Technology to run pay and records correctly.
